Can't tighten enough!

I got a new toilet seat because someone broke my last one because they are weak and poorly designed. The New one is just as weak and poorly designed. I am handy and this took FOREVER to install! Pieces kept detaching and falling through the holes. Then I would have to fish for them and try to figure out their configuration. I very much regret buying this toilet for the seat purpose alone. It is beyond frustrating knowing I will have to buy, yet again, another toilet seat before too long.
